E2E Accessibility Study
Evaluation of the E2E website’s accessibility
UX Research project
Date: May 2022
Role: Research lead (main POC, protocol development, session facilitation, data analysis, report creation, readout )
Project Goals:
Conduct an evaluation of End to End User Research’s website’s accessibility.
Identify any usability issues for screen reader users and areas of improvement needed based on user experience and feedback.
Why is this important?
End to End User Research is a market research company. It is important for the owners, that the website be accessible to participants without barriers so that more people can sign up and use their services, as clients and as a participant.
Methodology:
We conducted a remote interview with four participants. We had a mix of experience levels, JAWS, and iOS Voiceover users.
3 - screen reader users (1 beginner, 2 advanced users )
1- keyboard user
Users were asked to perform tasks on the (then) current End-to-End User Research website and then describe their experience. Then they rated the task on a Likert scale.
Limitation:
Due to the hard-to-reach demographics needed for the study, we did not have any female users.
Data collected:
We collected quantitative data during the interview to understand the difficulties faced during completing the task.
We also collected Likert scale ratings where the users rated the difficulty of the task that they had just finished.
Outcome:
Clients were given qualitative and quantitative results showing how their website posed difficulty for screen reader users and keyboard users.
Recommendations were made to add HTML tags to all headings so that users could go from one heading to another and decide if they wanted to know the details for that particular section. Recommendations included rearranging the information on the facilities page to ensure users have ease of access to the information.
Recommendations were incorporated in the next iteration of the website. In the next phase, we developed two designs for the facilities page of the website and conducted AB testing on them.
